The EUFOR soldier who stood in the church in Milići and attended the memorial service for the fallen soldiers in the Memorial Room during the celebration of unconstitutional January 9 as "Republika Srpska Day”, was suspended and returned home from the zone of operation.
EUFOR confirmed this information to the SRNA news agency and noted that this measure was imposed after it was determined that the behaviour of one of the Liaison and Observation Team (LOT) members, who was in charge of monitoring and observing the events of January 9, was not in accordance with the principles to which EUFOR adheres.
“EUFOR notes that the integrity and impartiality of its mission are of the utmost importance,” EUFOR said.
The European peace-keeping force previously explained that the soldier was “on an assignment and mission” and added that he was “part of EUFOR's liaison and observation team with the local community,” but also that they would launch an investigation into the presence of the soldier during the celebration of the unconstitutional January 9 as the “Day of RS” in Milici.
