Bosnia’s Council of Ministers Chair Borjana Kristo met in Brussels with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, on Monday, with whom she spoke about the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kristo thanked Michel and the European Council for their continued support and the granting of BiH candidate status. She emphasized that this is an additional incentive for accelerating reform processes on the way to the EU.
Michel congratulated Kristo and the Council of Ministers on the adoption of the Program of Economic Reforms of BiH for the period 2023-2025, which represents a strong step forward on the European path.
Kristo said that the 14 key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission remain in the focus of the work of the BiH Council of Ministers in the coming period, but that for the successful continuation of the reform process, it is important to complete the process of establishing government at all levels.
The Chair also noted the crucial importance of electoral legislation reform, in accordance with the decision of the BiH Constitutional Court and the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. The reform of the electoral legislation would further relax the political relations within the country, and the focus of all levels of government would be directed towards the country’s European path, she concluded.
