"Most of the evacuees are elderly individuals, and among them is one child. They have been accommodated in the Jablanica Sports Center, which was prepared for reception yesterday. They have been provided with food, water, and medicine," said Azra Babic, a member of the Jablanica Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters, in a statement for FENA.
She added that the situation in the municipality is currently stable.
"It is still raining, and strong winds are blowing, but we have no major issues at the moment. There has been minor stream overflow onto local roads and small landslides. The situation is under control, and we hope there will be no worsening of weather conditions," Babic stated.
The Operational Center of Civil Protection in Jablanica reported that the electricity supply remains stable in all populated areas, while civil protection teams are on the ground monitoring the situation.
It is worth noting that the Adriatic Sea Watershed Agency previously issued a warning due to forecasts of heavy rainfall expected over the next three days in parts of the TMT flood zone (Tihaljina, Mlade, Trebizat) and the middle and lower Neretva basin with its tributaries.
The warning regarding the risk of flash floods and landslides applies to the municipalities and cities of Konjic, Jablanica, Mostar, Capljina, Grude, Ljubuski, Siroki Brijeg, and Posusje.
