Vesna Prodanovic, a passenger from the bus from Zvornik whose passengers fell from the suspension bridge in Ovcar Banja, recalled the moment when the bridge collapsed leaving two people dead, while 10 of them were injured, pointing out that everything happened in 20 seconds.

Passengers on two buses took off from Zvornik, intending to visit the Jovanje monastery in Serbia. There was no plan for them to stop by Ovcar Banja, but they did due to road works.

“Everything happened in a second, there were more than 20 people on the bridge. We didn't know what hit us at the moment when the bridge broke,” Vesna begins the story.

She pointed out that she was aware at the time of the collapse of the bridge, and that she immediately went to look for help.

“I was aware, I ran out onto the road, and started stopping the cars. A boy stopped and called an ambulance and the police. The scene was gruesome. The emergency team immediately formed on the spot and started to help the people who were sobbing”, Vesna said adding:

“We got mixed up from two buses, one grandmother said she wouldn't go on the bridge, not knowing what was going to happen.”

She also states that the scene was terrible.

“It was scary, I can't swim, so I couldn't jump in and help,” she added.

The accident happened around 10 o'clock Thursday morning. Two women were killed, while 10 people were injured. Nova.rs reported that the bridge broke while the passengers were on it due to overloading.
