Families mark anniversary of suffering of Serbs in Srebrenica and Bratunac region

Families of the Serbs killed on St. Peter's Day in 1992 in Zalazje near Srebrenica, eastern Bosnia, marked the anniversary today, saying that even after 33 years there is no justice for the Serb victims, that the wounds are not healing, and that they believe that "God's justice will not bypass the criminals."

Marking the 33rd anniversary of the killing of 69 Serbian civilians and soldiers on St. Peter's Day in 1992, a memorial service was held today at the memorial to the murdered and fallen Serbs.
The commemoration was attended by Advisor to the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Maja Gacic, Mayor of Srebrenica Milos Vucic, Deputy Mayor of Bratunac Ninko Tesic, President of the Socialist Movement Aleksandar Vulin (Serbia), Vice President of the Serbian Socialist Party Aleksandar Seselj, son of war criminal Vojislav Seselj (Serbia), and representatives of municipal organizations stemming from the previous war.
Srebrenica Mayor said that this is a sad day for the Serb people in Srebrenica.

"St. Peter's Day has been sad for 33 years, because the pain and sorrow for those who died defending their people and Republika Srpska does not end. An additional pain is that no one has been prosecuted, let alone convicted, for the murders of prisoners who were alive. This speaks volumes about the state of the judiciary and the attitude towards the Serb people," he said.
Before the memorial service, family members of the deceased, fellow soldiers, veterans and municipal delegations from Srebrenica and Bratunac laid flowers at the cemetery in Bratunac, where the largest number of those killed were buried, as well as at the execution sites in Biljaca and Sase.
The memorial service in Zalazje concluded the five-day memorial, spiritual-humanitarian, and cultural-sports program "Petrovdanski dani" (St. Peter's Days), which was organized by the Municipal Committee for the Commemoration of the Suffering of the Serbs, on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Srebrenica Serbs' suffering.
