Farmers block Orasje - Tuzla main road demanding payment of wheat subsidies

The farmers pointed out that they were forced to do so by the numerous problems they face ahead of autumn sowing, Radio Orasje reported.

"I will single out the main problems, and the biggest one that has 'forced' us from the fields to the road is the FBiH subsidies for wheat production. For this year's crop, subsidies of 400 to 600 Bosnian marks (some €200 - €300) per sown hectare of wheat were promised, and as long as this money is not in the farmers' accounts, we will not move away from here," said the president of the Orasje Farmers' Association, Perica Marosevic.

He added that farmers "don't have much time or patience", so if they don't get an answer from the Federation (FBiH) entity Ministry of Agriculture soon, they are ready to block the Orasje border crossing.
