The father of Dzenan Memic, whose suspicious death remains unresolved after five years, reported to police in Sarajevo on Sunday that he received death threats, the Sarajevo Canton (KS) Interior Ministry said.
The Memic family has been fighting for five years for the truth about what happened to Dzenan Memic, who was suffered serious injuries on February 8, 2016, in Sarajevo’s Ilidza neighbourhood. He died on February 15.
The citizens’ group ‘Justice for Dzenan Memic’ also confirmed that the young man’s father, Muriz Memic, received death threats, saying that they came from individuals connected to the case.
“After five years of fighting and finally the first arrests taking place, direct threats began. It seems that it is burning under our feet and that we hit where it hurts the most,” the group said, referring to the recent arrests of suspects who are being investigated for allegedly obstructing the investigation into Memic’s death.
