Federation (FBiH) entity Energy Regulatory Commission (FERK) approved the request of FbiH power company Elektroprivreda BiH to increase the price of electricity by 10 percent.
The General Manager of Elektroprivreda BiH Sanel Buljubasic said that “they must have financial resources for the construction of power plants, thermal power plants and hydropower plants, and that these plants should be maximally ready to respond to the demands of customers.” He pointed out that there are legal grounds for this decision.
“This is FERK's first step towards Elektroprivreda BiH after a long series of harmonizing our prices to customers. Today, it was established that even the increased prices are not close to our production prices, but that the increase is very important for maintaining our energy stability. The previous FERK Chair unnecessarily removed this item from the last session and this was stated at today's session”, Buljubasic said.
Speaking about possible price increases in the coming period, he said that it depends on production costs.
“The role of FERK is to monitor our work and possibly reduce the price of electricity if it determines that it is necessary,” he added.
Elektroprivreda requested an increase in the price of electricity of up to 10 percent, which will be calculated from August 1.
