FBiH Parliament orders further steps for combating coronavirus spread

The House of Representatives of Bosnia's Federation (FBiH) entity Parliament adopted several conclusions proposed by MPs and the parliamentary Health Committee during an extraordinary online session on Thursday evening regarding the worsening epidemiological situation.

The following is the list of the adopted conclusions.

– Cantonal governments and cantonal crisis headquarters may introduce more restrictive measures in their communities in order to combat the infection, and inspection bodies, as well as the police, may establish appropriate supervision over the implementation of epidemiological measures to protect the health and lives of citizens;

– A health grant for the support of health facilities and the approval of funds for additional admission of health workers shall be urgently activated;

– The FBiH Crisis Staff was given greater authority when adopting uniform measures in order to suppress the rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection throughout the entity;

– Tighter control of already adopted measures in the entire Federation of BiH was ordered;

– The FBiH Government was approved to procure PCR laboratories to cantons that still do not have such laboratories;

– The FBiH Government was tasked with continuing and further intensifying activities on further direct procurement of vaccines with the aim of achieving full immunization of at least two-thirds of the population, as soon as possible;

– The government should also limit the margins to all drugs and immunological and vitamin supplements needed to treat and prevent the coronavirus infection;

The next session was scheduled for March 30, 2021.
