FBiH Police launch operation "Savings" amid financial investigation

During this operation, authorities searched for persons and property across five locations, including areas within Sarajevo Canton, Zenica-Doboj Canton, and Central Bosnia Canton. Additionally, activities include searches of the official premises of the FBIH Ministry of Finance in Sarajevo.

"During these activities, two suspects were deprived of their liberty as part of an investigation conducted by the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office regarding illegalities committed in the process of paying out old foreign currency savings. The suspects are accused of committing the criminal offenses of 'Abuse of Position or Authority' and 'Aiding and Abetting,'" the FUP announced.

The investigation follows a report submitted to the competent institutions by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH and Minister of Finance, Toni Kraljevic. According to the Ministry, the report was filed following internal analyses that identified certain irregularities, which were then officially reported to the relevant authorities.

"The Ministry welcomes the swift reaction of the police and judicial authorities and expresses the expectation that all circumstances of this case will be illuminated in a professional and transparent manner," the statement concluded.

The arrested individuals will undergo criminal processing at the Federation Police Administration premises and will be questioned by the acting prosecutor and relevant investigators.
