Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Niksic, announced today at a meeting with representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina's sports associations that the FBiH Government will forgo part of the profits from public enterprises to finance the Football, Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, and Sitting Volleyball Federations of BiH. This announcement was made public by the FBiH Government's Public Relations Office.

The meeting, held at the Government headquarters in Sarajevo, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister Vojin Mijatovic, BiH Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic, Director of BH Telecom Amel Kovacevic, and representatives of the sports associations.

“We have already agreed with the management of BH Telecom that the FBiH Government will forgo part of the profit thanks to the successful operation of our public enterprise and allocate significant funds for sports and cinematography. This will provide substantial financial support to the sports associations, easing their obligations so they can focus on participating in major competitions and achieving the sports results we all desire,” stated Prime Minister Niksic. “In my previous term as Prime Minister, we planned for our public companies, such as BH Telecom, BH Post, Elektroprivreda BiH, and the FBiH Development Bank, to finance sports associations. We will not neglect individual sports either. In this government, athletes and sports workers have friends who will also support investments in the renovation of halls and sports fields through the Federal budget. We will support our national teams as much as we can because we all want to win as many medals and victories as possible.”

Deputy Prime Minister Mijatovic expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to support sports in the country and emphasized the FBiH Government's commitment to finding a systemic solution for financing representative sports.

Minister Konakovic highlighted that these significant funds will help BiH sports associations work more efficiently and better prepare for competitions. The commitment was also made to continue and increase this support in the coming years. BH Telecom's Director noted that the company's management is determined to maximize profit positions and continue supporting the FBiH Government's investments in sports associations.

Representatives of the Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, and Sitting Volleyball Federations expressed gratitude for the financial support, which they said is the strongest so far, and satisfaction that sports in the country are being supported systematically for the first time. A meeting with representatives of the Football Federation, who were unable to attend today's meeting, will be organized soon.

Following today's meeting, necessary decisions will be made, and contracts with all five associations for this significant financial support from the FBiH Government will be signed.
