Federation of BiH records strong investment growth

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) continues to post strong investment growth, with the latest data from the FBiH Bureau of Statistics (FZS) showing that total investments in 2024 are 10.2% higher compared to the previous year. This marks the continuation of a positive trend for the third consecutive year.

According to the Cantonal Agency for Investment Attraction and Privatization of Sarajevo Canton (KAIP), official figures show that total realized investments in FBiH last year reached more than 6.1 billion Bosnian marks (approximately €3.1 billion), an increase of 10.2% compared to 2023, when the figure stood at 5.5 billion marks (approx. €2.8 billion).
Based on past statistical trends, nearly one-quarter of these investments are realized annually in Sarajevo Canton alone.
KAIP Director Adnan Jasarevic highlighted that the results are encouraging, stressing that efforts to improve the business environment and a systematic approach to attracting investments are major drivers behind the steady growth.

“It is important to note that half of these investments go into the purchase of machinery and equipment, which confirms the high-quality nature of these investments. Of course, many factors influence investors’ decisions, from political stability and economic reforms that facilitate business to intensive promotion and international networking. For us, this outcome is not surprising, but it is a clear incentive to continue strengthening everything that makes us a more attractive and secure investment destination,” said Jasarevic.
He added that once detailed canton-level statistics are available, expected in the last quarter of the year, the exact amounts and percentages of investment growth for Sarajevo Canton will be confirmed, though he expects the positive trend to continue.
Earlier FZS data show that investment growth in Sarajevo Canton in 2023 reached as much as 13%, when total investments exceeded 1.3 billion marks (approx. €665 million), marking a record for the past decade, according to KAIP.
