Film by Bosnian filmmaker Pjer Zalica wins Grand Prix in Warsaw

Pjer Zalica's latest film 'Labour Day', which had its world premiere at the closing of this year's 28th Sarajevo Film Festival, won the Grand Prix at its first international screening - in the official programme of the 38th International Film Festival in Warsaw.

The Bosnian filmmaker received the award in person.

Following the international premiere in Warsaw, the film will be screened during the 20th Zagreb Film Festival in Croatia and at the 14th Eastern Neighbors Film Festival (ENFF) both in Amsterdam and The Hague.

The film is currently available in all cinemas throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the first weekend of screening in the Bosnian cinemas, the film set a record: it was seen by almost 10,000 viewers, which is the new best result of the opening of a Bosnian film at the domestic box office in the last decade.

‘Labour Day’ is a co-production project of five countries in the region supported by the Sarajevo Cinematography Foundation, the Council of Europe's EURIMAGES Fund, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Canton of Sarajevo, the national film funds of Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, Creative Europe – EU Media Program, BH Telecom, BHRT, ARTE Kino Int., as well as numerous partners, Sarajevo Canton and local communities.

The film includes some of the most prominent names of the film industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region including Muhamed Hadzovic, Emir Hadzihafizbegovic, Admir Glamocak, Boris Isakovic, Aleksandar Seksan, Mirvad Kuric, Jasna Zalica, Tatjana Sojic, Dzenita Imamovic Omerovic, Labina Mitevska, Vedran Djekic, Branka Katic, Ermin Bravo, Branimir Popovic, Adnan Goro.
