The final hearing will be dedicated to presenting closing statements by both the prosecution and the defence.

Ahead of today’s proceedings, renewed threats have emerged from Republika Srpska, with officials in Banja Luka signalling a forceful response to any verdict issued in the case. During a meeting on Monday, RS authorities warned of radical measures should the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina deliver a ruling unfavourable to their interests.

“The National Assembly of Republika Srpska, the RS Government, and all RS institutions will take actions leading to radical decisions in response to any verdict handed down by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” stated an official announcement.

At last night's session of the Board of the RS National Assembly, the government’s proposal to keep the assembly in continuous session was approved. It was further decided that an emergency session would be convened via telephone within 24 hours of the RS Government submitting the necessary documentation.

Additionally, the RS Government is scheduled to hold a meeting on Wednesday with all mayors and municipal leaders within the entity. Following this, according to reports from RTRS, a government session will be convened to assess the broader political and security implications of the trial and evaluate potential consequences.
The meeting is set to commence at 7 pm, after which the RS Government session will take place.

Dodik and Lukic have been charged with engaging in activities between 1 and 9 July 2023, in Banja Luka, despite being aware that High Representative Christian Schmidt had issued orders prohibiting the enforcement of the Law on Non-Implementation of the Decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1 July onwards. Furthermore, Schmidt’s decisions also prevented amendments to the Law on the Publication of RS Laws and Other Regulations from taking effect. The indictment alleges that the accused continued with the legislative process in defiance of these prohibitions.
