Firefighters battle multiple wildfires in West Herzegovina Canton, more than 75 hectares burned

Several fires were reported across West Herzegovina Canton during the day, mostly involving grass and low vegetation, with the largest burned area recorded in the Siroki Brijeg area.

According to the FBiH Civil Protection Administration's Operations Center, the Ljubuski Fire Department responded to fires in Humac, where grass and low vegetation were burning, as well as in Grab, where grass and low vegetation also caught fire. In Sipovaca, grass and low vegetation were burning along with part of the roof of a house. Grass and low vegetation also burned in the Humac-Ruljas area.

The Siroki Brijeg Fire Department responded to a fire from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., extinguishing the blaze and carrying out mop-up operations in the Ljuti Dolac area.

Several firefighting interventions were also reported in the Grude municipality.

In Corluke, a fire involving forest, grass and low vegetation burned from 2:40 p.m. to 7:52 p.m., affecting approximately 10,000 square meters. Three firefighters with two vehicles took part in the firefighting operation.

In Jaksenica-Tihaljina, oak forest, grass and low vegetation burned from 4:22 p.m. to 7:52 p.m., affecting approximately 42,000 square meters. Four firefighters with three vehicles, along with four firefighters from the Tihaljina Volunteer Fire Department with one vehicle and residents, took part in the firefighting efforts.
