Bosnian nationals and their relatives who were evacuated from Gaza few days ago are arriving in Sarajevo, where they are welcomed by their families and citizens.
Sumeja Hadzic Jusufovic is one of the Sarajevans who came to the Sarajevo International Airport to welcome them. None of them are her family but she said she empathises with all of them.
“I hurt a lot. I do what I think is the best. I prepared snacks for the children, I am helping as much as I can. I think that the Bosnian people can empathise with them because we also used to be refugees,” she said, adding that any human will not remain can be calm about their suffering.
Gaza-born Saleh el-Barawy has been living in Bosnia for the past 12 years. He is welcoming 11 members of his family. Some are arriving in the afternoon and the rest of them later in the evening.

“My sister, her husband and their two children stayed there, but the ambassador promised there would be no problem. What matters the most is that they are safe in Cairo. Thanks to Bosnia for fighting for these people to be safe,” he said.
El-Barawy also thanked the ambassador of BiH in Egypt as well as the Bosnian government, which passed a decision on allowing the entry for the people from Gaza.
