Floods in BiH: State of natural disaster declared, all services mobilized
Heavy rainfall has caused a sudden rise in river and watercourse levels across Bosnia and Herzegovina, leading to floods in several cities. Some of worst-hit areas are Cazin, Gradacac, and Velika Kladusa, where agricultural land, residential, and commercial properties have been flooded. Local authorities have been forced to take emergency measures to protect the population.

Cazin: Roads blocked, businesses flooded
In Cazin, the Mutnica River and its tributaries have overflowed, flooding land plots and several commercial properties. While residential buildings are currently not at risk, Civil Protection teams are monitoring the situation on the ground.
"As a precaution, four roads in Cazin have been blocked. All services are activated and ready to intervene if water threatens residential buildings," said Nermin Kljajic, head of Civil Protection in Cazin.
Gradacac: Homes flooded, family evacuated
In Gradacac, ten residential buildings have been flooded, and one family has been evacuated due to a reactivated landslide. For safety reasons, schools in both central and surrounding areas are closed today.
"The most important thing is that no lives are at risk. We are monitoring the situation and staying in contact with local community leaders," said Isam Sendic from Gradacac Civil Protection.

Velika Kladusa: State of natural disaster declared
In Velika Kladusa, the Kladusnica River has reached a level of 204 cm, overflowing in multiple locations. The most critical situation is on the Drmaljevo – Trnovi road, where water has cut off the only access route to the local animal shelter. The rising Glinica River is further worsening the situation.
Due to the severity of the conditions, Mayor Boris Horvat convened an emergency session of the Civil Protection Headquarters, where it was decided to declare a state of natural disaster.
"All available services are engaged, and we are continuously monitoring the situation," Horvat emphasized, urging citizens to remain cautious and follow official instructions.
Emergency measures and public advisory
Civil Protection teams across the affected cities continue to monitor the situation closely, with emergency services on standby for possible interventions. Citizens are advised to avoid flood-affected areas, follow official updates, and take necessary precautions to protect their property and lives.
