Foreign investors show resilience: Over €500m invested in Bosnia during 2025

According to data presented by Governor Selimovic, the inflow of direct foreign investments from January to September 2025 reached 1.05 billion Bosnian marks (approximately €536.86 million). The primary sources of these investments were Germany with 264.6 million marks (approximately €135.29 million), Croatia with 223.4 million marks (approximately €114.22 million), and Slovenia with 154.5 million marks (approximately €78.99 million). Selimovic emphasized the necessity of strengthening institutional security to further boost these figures.

FIC President Sanela Karic noted that 90% of member companies consider Bosnia a suitable destination for investment and long-term operations. "Investors are optimistic and wish to reinvest, with a primary focus on human resources and staff development," Karic stated, adding that the intensity of investment has remained steady since the post-pandemic surge in 2023.

Executive Director of FIC, Nedim Makarevic, provided a broader perspective on the council's impact, noting that its 85 members have invested nearly 10 billion marks (approximately €5.11 billion) into the domestic economy since the 1990s, creating over 20,000 jobs. Makarevic confirmed that 60% of current funds will be reinvested into existing projects, and no major foreign-capital company plans to exit the country. While he highlighted the 10% corporate tax rate as one of the lowest in Europe, he cautioned that complex administration and daily politics continue to create confusion for international investors.
