The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against Osman Mehmedagic, also known as Osmica, the former director of the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH (OSA).

The indictment, confirmed by the Prosecutor’s Office through an official statement, accuses Mehmedagic of serving as the general director of OSA from November 2019 until his removal from office, despite not meeting the legally required educational qualifications for the position.

According to the statement, Mehmedagic allegedly presented a diploma from the American University in Bosnia for a bachelor's degree in international law to the parliamentary oversight body for OSA. However, it is claimed that he had never studied at the institution or earned any qualifications from it. The origins of the diploma remain unclear.

The indictment further states that Mehmedagic’s actions damaged Bosnia’s reputation and allowed him to receive financial benefits totalling 293,046.58 Bosnian Marks (approximately €150,000) unlawfully, thereby causing losses to the state budget. Prosecutors have proposed confiscation of the unlawfully acquired funds.

Mehmedagic faces charges of abuse of office or authority, a criminal offence under Bosnian law.

This case highlights serious allegations of misconduct within one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's key state institutions, raising questions about oversight and accountability.
