Former ISIS recruiter, Bilal Bosnic, was released from prison on Friday morning after serving a seven-year sentence for public incitement to terrorist activities, recruitment of terrorists and organization of a terrorist group.
The director of the prison in Vojkovici confirmed that Bosnic was released at 9 am on Friday morning.
“He was released after serving the entire sentence, he was not released on parole,” Perkovic said.
Bosnic was first arrested in September 2014 along with 15 other members of the Salafi movement in BiH in a crackdown on a suspected terrorist group, but three months later, all suspects were released.
Bosnic was, however, arrested again soon after.
He was sentenced in the first instance in late 2015 when he was found guilty of giving speeches in 2013 and 2014 with the aim of encouraging members of the Salafi movement to join ISIS.
Bosnia’s state court confirmed the sentence against Bosnic in 2016 and he was transferred to Vojkovici from the Zenica Penitentiary, where he had previously served his sentence.
