Frontex delegation visits BiH Border Police units as cooperation intensifies

According to the Border Police, the talks evaluated ongoing joint operations and allowed local officers to brief delegates on daily operational challenges. Frontex representatives outlined potential avenues for expanded technical, professional, and operational assistance to bolster national border security, confirming their readiness to maximise support within legal parameters.

Concluding the formal engagements, Assistant Director Lazic presented Mr Gerdes with the Silver Plaque of the Border Police in recognition of his outstanding support and cooperation, with both parties reaffirming their dedication to securing the external borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union.

Following the meetings, the Frontex delegation visited officers stationed at Sarajevo International Airport. Officials noted that these high-level visits, following recent inspections of regional units in Doljani, Hum, and Zvornik, demonstrate the robust partnership between the agencies. Both delegations concluded that sustained intelligence sharing and joint risk assessments remain vital for maintaining robust security standards aligned with European frameworks.
