German ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Thomas Fitschen welcomed the appointment of the new government in Bosnia's Federation entity, urging the new authorities to carry out reforms on the country's path to the European Union.
“I welcome the fact that it was possible to conclude the nomination procedure in the FBiH House of Representatives and to elect a new Government. I hope that Prime Minister (Nermin) Niksic and his new team will now be able to take important and long overdue decisions which are important for all citizens, and I wish him best of success for that,” the ambassador said.
“It is essential for the future not just of the Federation, but for all of Bosnia and Hercegovina and its people, that the reform measures on the path into the European Union are now taken decisively and without delay,” he added.
New ministers took office on Wednesday, after last week's confirmation in the House of Representatives. The process of the government formation was unblocked after the international peace envoy, High Representative Christian Schmidt imposed changes to the Constitution of the entity.
