Social Democratic Party’s (SPD) representative in Germany’s Bundestag Josip Juratovic told N1 Wednesday that Croatian policy towards Bosnia is disastrous and that it does not even protect the Croats in BiH.

“Croatian policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina is disastrous. The worst part is it doesn't even protect the Croats. The Croats who are in Central Bosnia are not in their focus. Croats are the strongest link and security for peace in BiH. They don’t represent the Croats in BiH, they represent the Covic clan. Covic's policy should also be terminated,” Juratovic said.

“Croatia is a very important factor for BiH and BiH is the most important country in terms of peace, security, and stability for the entire region. So Croatia needs to help BiH as much as possible on its way to the EU. I would suggest that they talk to the Croats from Central Bosnia, they have a very good approach to the overall situation in BiH. They want to live together with Bosniaks, they don't want to create a gap between Croats and Bosniaks, because moderate Croats and moderate Bosniaks are the most important factor for the future of this country”.

He noted that often Bosnia is presented with two, three or four different views. Which is a big problem. One, unique image of BiH should be created, he said.

“Now that I have heard [BiH Presidency member Milorad] Dodik, he contributed a lot to the confusion, from the point of view of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I know his policy, I think it’s not good for BiH as a whole”, said Juratovic.

When it comes to the decisions and actions of High Representative Christian Schmidt, Juratovic said that he has a clear task from the international community.

“Mr Schmidt is no diplomat, he has a clear task from the International Community. At that moment when the country is blocked, when society is in danger in one way or another, his main task is to react.”

When asked if this is a coordinated game by political parties, he said:

“I think it’s very important for the people, the public, the media to show the politicians for who they are. The people should ask themselves, what is the health and education system like and why are 40 to 50 thousand young intellectuals leaving BiH. Why don't they see any future here? Every citizen must ask themself who bears the greatest responsibility for this state of affairs. The biggest responsibility lies with the political parties that are now campaigning. Political parties have nothing to offer, they hide behind the screen of nationalism, some kind of national protection, propagating how one side is threatened by the other, which is very dangerous at this time.”
