The Guardian's journalistic legend, Ed Vulliamy, spoke to N1's Ika Ferrer Gotic about Srebrenica massacre, concentration camps he had discovered during the Bosnian War and the hate speech in the region.

Vulliamy's analysis of the Bosnian war and its aftermath does not linger on the horror but tries to explain it.

In August 1992, journalist Ed Vulliamy met Radovan Karadzic shortly before discovering the horrors of the Omarska concentration camp and revealing them to the world. He continued to report throughout the War, and went on to testify in a number of trials at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), including that of Radovan Karadzic, former President of what is now the Republika Srpska throughout the War and Supreme Commander of the armed forces.

“The Karadzic verdict sends a powerful signal that those who order atrocities cannot simply wait out justice,” said Vulliamy adding that the horror he has seen in Bosnia in the nineties reflects the banality of the atrocities.
