A meeting between the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) and the Trojka coalition (People and Justice Party – NiP; Our Party – NS; Social Democratic Party - SDP) was held in Mostar on Friday to address the ongoing political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the functioning of the state coalition, which includes the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD). After the meeting, Dragan Covic, the Leader of HDZ BiH, stated that the primary goal was to analyze and assess the state of joint operations in the Federation of BiH.

Covic emphasized the importance of maintaining stable relations within the coalition, not just through statements but through concrete actions in executive governance. “The main focus of all partners was ensuring peace and stability in BiH. Our political actions must enable institutions to perform their tasks smoothly while working on opening the European path and integration ambitions,” he said.

He announced upcoming discussions with partners from Republika Srpska to find solutions to current challenges and ensure political stability. According to him, one of the key issues on the agenda will be the equality of the three constituent peoples in BiH and improving the existing partnership or coalition. He added, “We need to transform what we have achieved in our current partnership agreement into a new form of partnership or coalition in BiH.”

The HDZ Leader also highlighted the need to unblock the work of the Council of Ministers of BiH, which is currently facing operational challenges. He expressed confidence in finding a way to resolve these issues soon, emphasizing the importance of reducing political tensions and avoiding provocative statements that could destabilize the situation. “Our goal is to create an environment where political dialogue can take place in a normal atmosphere, without unnecessary conflicts or competition,” he concluded.

Nermin Niksic, Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH and the leader of SDP, also addressed the media after the meeting. He echoed Covic’s sentiments, stating that the partnership between the Troika and Croat parties is crucial for the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina. “This partnership is not directed against anyone and has no intention of harming anyone. It aims to show that we can engage in dialogue, even when we don’t agree on everything because dialogue has no alternative,” Niksic said.

Niksic stressed that agreements are the only solution and called for public statements that support peace and stability in BiH. He also mentioned recent discussions with opposition representatives from Republika Srpska, expressing hope that HDZ would continue these talks. “Any new partnership must also be based on agreements and principles that we will work on and achieve in the period ahead,” he added.
