Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) entity Nermin Niksic and FBiH Minister of Interior Ramo Isak were questioned Wednesday at the Special Department of the FBiH Prosecutor's Office for Combating Corruption and Organised Crime (POSKOK). The questioning took place as part of the ongoing investigation into the "Munjic and Others" case, commonly referred to by the public as the "Spengavanje" affair.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Niksic and Isak were interviewed as suspects after prosecutors expanded the probe beyond the original four individuals. Contacted regarding the development, POSKOK confirmed that several individuals were questioned today and added that remaining suspects in the case will be interrogated throughout the week.

"All suspects requested additional time to examine the evidence material, which was granted, and they were automatically assigned new interview slots last week," POSKOK spokesperson Nina Hadzihajdarevic confirmed to N1.

The "Munjic and Others" case involves allegations of abuse of office, trading in influence, and bribery. The core of the investigation centres on disputed communications between senior officials and officers across FBiH institutions.

Individuals under investigation for these communications include the acting director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP) Vahidin Munjic, FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Niksic, and FUP officer Muhamed Ohranovic, who reportedly acted as an intermediary between the Prime Minister's office and police structures. The investigation also encompasses Nikšić's chief of staff, Arijana Huseinović-Ajanovic, and Police Academy Director Ervin Musinovic.

Prior judicial rulings in the case imposed restrictive measures on several suspects, limiting their official duties, contact with each other, and access to specific institutions.

Huseinovic-Ajanovic was banned from performing any official duties within the Government of the Federation of BiH, whilst Musinovic was barred from official duties at the FUP and the Federal Ministry of Interior, leading to the appointment of an acting director at the Police Academy. Court orders prohibit Munjic, Ohranovic, and Musinovic from entering or approaching FUP and Federal Ministry of Interior premises within a 100-metre radius. A similar 100-metre exclusion zone around FBiH Government premises applies to Huseinović-Ajanovic.

Furthermore, the court prohibited Munjic, Ohranovic, Huseinovic-Ajanovic, and Musinovic from meeting or contacting one another, as well as suspect Mirela Bubalo and other named individuals.

Additional investigative activities were conducted over the course of 2026, including searches carried out early and mid-year. Fresh evidence gathered during these operations provided the legal basis to expand the investigation to include Prime Minister Niksic and Minister Isak. Their questioning today directly followed this expansion, with further interrogations scheduled for this week.

The investigation remains ongoing, and all suspects retain the right to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty by a final court verdict.
