HJPC BiH hosts Swedish delegation to strengthen judicial reform and cooperation
The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) hosted an official reception for a high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Sweden, as part of ongoing efforts to reform the judiciary and strengthen institutional capacities.

The Swedish delegation was led by the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, Andreas Norlen, and included Sweden’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Helena Lagerlof, along with Eva Gibson Smedberg, Director of the Department for Development Cooperation at the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). They were welcomed by HJPC BiH leadership: President Sanin Bogunic, Vice President Sanela Gorusanovic-Butigan, and permanent Council member Sedin Izdrizovic.
The purpose of the visit was to highlight the progress made through international cooperation with Swedish institutions and to provide a platform for deepening strategic dialogue on key priorities in judicial reform. The meeting also reaffirmed the strong partnership between the two countries, grounded in shared values such as judicial independence, transparency, efficiency, good governance, and gender equality in the judiciary.
A key focus of this cooperation is strengthening the institutional capacity of the HJPC BiH to enhance further its regulatory role within Bosnia and Herzegovina’s judicial system.

SIDA supports this partnership through professional and technical collaboration with the Swedish National Courts Administration (SNCA) and the Swedish Enforcement Authority (SEA).
Members of the Swedish delegation expressed their full support for the reform initiatives led by the HJPC BiH and voiced satisfaction with the progress achieved so far. They also reaffirmed Sweden’s continued commitment to supporting the HJPC BiH as a vital institution upholding the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
