House of Representatives MP, Enver Bijedic, denied the charges prosecutors raised against him for his alleged involvement in tender-rigging, arguing that it is a political case and accusing the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of being behind it.
Bijedic was one of six people arrested last week on suspicion of receiving bribes and trading in influence regarding the alleged rigging of a tender procedure for a private company.

The arrests came after a probe into possible illegal activities regarding the setting up of a tender, worth millions of Bosnian Marks, for a company from Gracanica to drill exploration and exploitation wells in the Tetima rock salt deposit, which is within the competencies of the Tuzla Salt Mine.
Tenders for this operation were allegedly annulled several times in order to benefit this company, which ended up with the company winning the bid although it has neither the personnel nor material resources to perform these works.
Bijedic, who is also the leader of the Social Democrats (SD), is suspected of leading the group.
He told reporters on Thursday that the charges are the result of a plan by the SDP, which he used to be a member of, to compromise his new party.
“Why did this happen? When leaving the SDP, we founded the Social Democrats and in the latest elections we achieved a spectacular result,” Bijedic said, adding that his new party took away half of the SDP’s voters.
“We are their biggest competition and opponent,” he said.
Bijedic argued that SDP leaders and administration in Tuzla and the canton “have a clear fear that we will achieve a result” and have connections in the TK Prosecutor’s Office, specifically with prosecutor Cazim Serhatlic.
Bijedic accused the prosecutor of “taking revenge” on him because, while he wa a minister in the FBiH entity, he allegedly refused to intervene in order to employ Serhatlic’s wife in BH Telecom.
