Christian Schmidt, the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, met today with Bakir Izetbegovic, leader of the SDA party. According to a statement from the Office of the High Representative (OHR), they exchanged views on current political developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Schmidt emphasized “that it is the duty of all political actors to act responsibly and constructively toward the shared goals and prosperity of the entire country on its path toward Euro-Atlantic integration.”

The High Representative shared Izetbegovic's concerns regarding recent media reports about the inclusion of convicted war criminals in the history curriculum in Republika Srpska without adequate explanation of their full roles and subsequent war crime convictions. “Education must help younger generations understand the truth so that they can overcome the horrors of the past and turn toward a better future in the spirit of coexistence and shared priorities,” the OHR statement said.
