Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban congratulated Milorad Dodik on his election as President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity on Sunday, the Prime Minister's spokesman said in a statement on Monday.
Orban promised Dodik that he would strive to continue the excellent political cooperation, the statement added.
Based on more than 90 percent of the counted votes, it is certain that Milorad Dodik won the race for the RS President.
He received the votes of 268,000 voters, or more than 48 percent, while 240,000 voters, or 43 percent of them, voted for his main opponent Jelena Trivic from the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP).
Both PDP and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) are centre-right parties, with SNSD being known for their secessionist rhetoric.
