An inmate from Mostar Correctional Facility is dead after a violent altercation on Sunday night, October 27. According to reports, A.S. (1987), originally from Mostar, allegedly stabbed fellow inmate D.S. (1989) from Sarajevo in the neck while the victim was in the restroom.

The incident was reported at 9:40 PM when an employee of the Mostar Correctional Facility, located on Alekse Santica Street, contacted the Mostar Police Department to report the attack. Police officers responded immediately to the scene and confirmed that A.S. had used a knife to attack D.S.

Emergency medical services arrived promptly, transporting D.S. to the Mostar University Clinical Center. Despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Following the incident, A.S. was placed in solitary confinement within the prison. Authorities secured the crime scene to preserve evidence and allow for an investigation. The on-duty prosecutor and officers from the Criminal Police Sector were also dispatched to conduct a full forensic examination.

An investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack and assess how A.Š. was able to obtain the weapon within the facility.
