The Federation (FBiH) entity’s Minister of Interior, Ramo Isak, addressed the recent terrorist attack in Bosanska Krupa in an interview with N1, describing it as an assault on the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and urging parents to closely monitor their children’s behavior.

“The information I received from the Minister of Interior of the Una-Sana Canton (USK) is that the injured officer is stable. Meetings are currently underway involving the director of the Cantonal Police Directorate (KUP), and several actions are being coordinated,” Isak explained. “Our special department is present on-site in the USK, and we've allocated all necessary resources to support the USK police and the prosecutor's office. The FBiH Police Administration (FUP) is fully prepared to provide additional forensic support to ensure this investigation reaches a resolution and clarifies the events leading to this tragedy,” he added.

Isak noted that the attacker was not previously known to law enforcement, but firmly classified the incident as an attack on the BiH state. “The individual was not previously known to investigators, but I will be bold in saying that this is an assault on Bosnia and Herzegovina. I appeal to all parents to pay close attention to their children and any changes in their behaviour. It’s inconceivable that parents would not notice a change in their child. We can’t put a police officer in every home,” Isak emphasized.

In his remarks, Isak directly appealed to parents across BiH.

“Dear parents, as soon as you notice any changes in your child, report it to the police. We could save lives. No one can convince me that parents don’t notice any changes. Get involved, parents; our national security is at stake.”

Isak stressed that while police will do their part, they often become involved only after an incident has occurred. “People expect preventative measures from the police, but we can’t act without information. Who can provide this information? The parents. These events don’t occur out of nowhere. Research has shown there’s always a background to incidents like this,” Isak stated.

He underscored the essential role of public cooperation in ensuring safety. “Without public help, we can only conduct investigations and assign blame. But it’s still not enough because we’ve already lost a life. How many more lives will be lost before we take this seriously?”

A juvenile born in 2009 entered the police station in Bosanska Krupa on Thursday night and fatally attacked Officer Ozren Maran with a knife. Maran succumbed to his injuries, while his colleague Avdo Hasanovic sustained serious injuries and is currently in stable condition at “Dr. Irfan Ljubljankic” Cantonal Hospital.

The suspect was promptly detained and remains under police supervision.
