Irena Hadziabdic, a member of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is taking over the duty of the Commission President as of January 1, 2024.
Hadziabdic was appointed as a candidate from the rank of Others.
She has been the Commission member since 2007 and has already performed the duty of the President on two occasions – from January 2010 to September 2011 and from January 2017 to September 2018.
At the invitation of the UN, the OSCE ODIHR the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI), Hadziabdic has been taking part in teams for the assessment of the implementation of elections in 16 countries in the period between 2002 and 2016.
From June 2011 to September 2012, she was acting as the President of the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO).
In 2014 she was appointed a member of the Board of Directors of the The International Foundation for Electoral Systems: IFES.
Hadziabdic was born in Zenica, she graduated from the Law Faculty in Belgrade and obtained her masters degree on the European policies, rights and management in the Great Britain. She defended her PhD thesis on topic of European democratic standards and electoral system of BiH at the Law Faculty in her hometown Zenica.
