Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina joined in the condemnation of attacks on a hospital in Gaza which caused a large number of fatalities, and also noted that attacks on Israeli civilians cannot be a justification for the killing of the Palestinians.

The statement by the leadership of the Islamic Community, forwarded today to media outlets, said its leadership most strongly condemns the airstrike on the Al-Ahli Arabi Baptist Hospital in Gaza, carried out on Tuesday, in which, according to available information, more than 500 civilians were killed.

“The Islamic Community once again calls for the de-escalation of violence and protection of innocent civilians. The injustice that the Palestinian people has suffered for decades cannot justify terrorism, just as attacks on Israeli targets cannot justify the killing and persecution of Palestinian civilians,” the statement said.

A just and lasting peace and giving up on violence is the only way to find a solution to the situation in the Holy Land, it said.

“The Islamic Community once again calls on all those in positions of power to stop the spiral of violence and turn to looking for a peace solution”, it stressed.

A smaller group of protesters rallied in downtown Sarajevo on Tuesday evening at the invitation of the Palestinian community in BiH, in a show of support for Palestinians and condemnation of Israel.

The protesters carried Palestinian flags and a banner that read “Sarajevo for Palestine”. There were no reports of incidents.
