After a swastika was drawn over the poster of the Chamber of Commerce of the State of Israel in BiH in the centre of Sarajevo, the Chamber President, Amir Gross Kabiri, sent a press release on Thursday in which he called on the Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic, to publicly condemn this violent act of anti-Semitism and send a clear message. that such behaviour will not be tolerated.
“The recent hate crime that took place on the streets of Sarajevo and the sight of Nazi symbols sprayed over the flag of the Jewish state is deeply disturbing and should be a warning sign. I call on Mayor Karic to publicly condemn this violent act of anti-Semitism and send a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated,” said Kabiri, recalling that in a few weeks, the whole world will mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
He also called on the leaders in Sarajevo to ensure that law enforcement authorities bring criminals to justice, believing that the justice system will judge them appropriately.
“We will not allow any Jew, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to face fear and terror. This is my personal moral duty and I will make sure they are safe and protected even if I have to protect each of them with my own body,” he stressed.
Kabiri believes that the rhetoric of hatred against the Jewish people must stop.
“Silence in the face of this crime is supporting it, and that's why I again call on you to speak out. We will not allow anyone to prevent us from achieving our goals, creating a unique, tolerant and successful BiH,” concluded the President of the Chamber of Commerce of the State of Israel in BiH.
