Members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia (AFRC) are participating in the military intelligence training "SAVA 24," conducted at the "Rajlovac" barracks in Sarajevo. The training, held from November 18 to 22, represents a significant milestone as the first organized joint military intelligence exercise on Bosnian soil.

An informational briefing and presentation of various scenarios and activities were organized for the media, showcasing the depth of the exercise.

The training, planned under a bilateral agreement, focuses on developing intelligence collection and analytical capabilities to enhance the operational understanding necessary for achieving mission objectives.

During the event, it was highlighted that Croatian colleagues provided valuable support throughout the preparation phase, offering assistance and proposals to enhance the education of AFBiH personnel. The cooperation stems from a series of bilateral agreements signed in 2019 between the Ministries of Defense of both countries, fostering numerous joint activities each year.

“Given that the AFRC is a NATO member, our collaboration is crucial for sharing experiences on our path toward NATO membership,” said Brigadier Nedzad Novalija, Head of the Intelligence Directorate of the Joint Staff of AFBiH.

Participants demonstrated the integration of military intelligence resources and disciplines, forming a comprehensive intelligence cycle where diverse information is gathered, analyzed, and reported to operational units.

“At the end of this process, a report is submitted to operational units, guiding their actions and ensuring the protection of our forces. What you’ve seen today can be applied in any real mission scenario,” Novalija explained.

The ultimate aim of “SAVA 24” is to enhance intelligence gathering, analytical skills, and operational capacities, enabling a deeper understanding of threats and ensuring mission success in achieving operational objectives.
