Bosnian Serb Presidency member Milorad Dodik does not like to spend time in Sarajevo, it irritates him, even artworks depicting mosques irritate him, Bosnian Croat Presidency member Zeljko Komsic said in an interview with N1 on Thursday.

“The relations between all three Presidency members sometimes appear calm, sometimes intense. The communication is at a professional level but I doubt we'd have any issues communicating even privately, should someone need help privately but it's clear that we are worlds apart, politically. Dodik rarely comes to Sarajevo, unlike former members of the Presidency with whom one could talk either honestly or dishonestly on both private and political topics, depending on the type of person they are. There’s none of that with Dodik. He doesn’t like Sarajevo, doesn’t like residing there. It’s all irritating to him. Even artworks depicting mosques irritate him, and so on,” Komsic told N1.

But when it comes to business, he said, everyone is promoting their own policy, but in the end, they come to a consensus.

Speaking about his relations with Croatian President Zoran Milanovic, who contested his presidency alleging he was not the legitimate Bosnian Croat representative, at the recent Brdo-Brijuni meeting in Slovenia, he said that “bluntly speaking – it looked as if nothing happened.”

“There was no such tension between Zoran and me. We have known each other for a long time, there are many objections. Not his performance towards me personally, I do not care about that, but about the relations in BiH – his views on BiH, and even that kind of interference in the internal affairs of BiH. That is not appropriate for good diplomatic practise, especially not in relation to two countries that are defined as friendly, which are directed at each other. There were no problems in the official relationship. I stick to that old saying – it's nice to trust people, it's even better to check everything twice. The story of the Western Balkans was on the agenda, that's a good thing. Another thing – they themselves can’t figure out what to do here. That’s not a smart approach by Brussels. When they ask me – I simply tell them: stick to what you said, stick to the value system you believe in. Don't make rotten compromises, they make new problems. There is an increased interest in our region from Brussels and the EU – but they themselves have not precisely defined the methodology of how to treat us,” said Komsic.

Regarding the messages of the Russian Embassy in BiH who said they would see Bosnia's NATO integration as a hostile act, Komsic says that BiH is a place where the interests of two large blocs clash.

“Russia and NATO and NATO member countries. Bosnia’s not important to Russia, nor is Serbia. Russia, Belarus and Georgia are the most important for Russia in this big game. Here some people get carried away, they think that Putin, Vucic and Dodik are important… so they think that the Russians are doing this because of them,” said Komsic.
