Borjana Kristo, the Chair of Bosnia’s Council of Ministers, participated in the Ukraine - Southeastern Europe Summit in Tirana. The hosts of the Summit were the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Edi Rama, and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
In her address at the plenary session, Kristo pointed out that as the Chair, she is aware of the importance of cooperation and dialogue, but also of the common desire for a peaceful and stable region and Europe. She said that Ukraine, as a country facing security and stability challenges, deserves full and constant attention and support.
“Therefore, allow me to emphasize once again that Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and firmly stands by Ukraine in its efforts to preserve sovereignty and security,” said Chair Kristo.
She added that in accordance with the commitment to European and civilizational values, Bosnia fully follows the positions of the European Union in relation to foreign policy when it comes to the relationship to the war in Ukraine. She expressed her belief that through dialogue, solidarity and mutual support, positive changes can be achieved not only in Ukraine but also beyond.
The Chair congratulated President Zelenskiy and the Ukrainian people on the opening of negotiations with the EU. She recalled that Bosnia expects the opening of negotiations in March and expressed her belief that common commitment to European and civilizational values will ensure a safer and more prosperous future for everyone in the region and the world.
