Bosnia and Herzegovina Prime Minister Borjana Kristo said on Wednesday, on the occasion of the first 100 days in office, that the main priority of the incumbent government was to launch talks on EU membership and meet the 14 set reform priorities, including reforms of the country's election legislation and constitution. Kristo sent a letter to the most senior EU officials that was forwarded to the media, and today she held a news conference in Sarajevo to present the results of the BiH Council of Ministers in the first 100 days of its term.

The letter by Kristo, outlining the key priorities of the current BiH Council of Ministers, was sent to European Council President Charles Michel, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

“It is our goal to start accession talks with the EU and make general progress in the process of European integration, including legislative alignment, the strengthening of state institutions, the reform of the judiciary, the fight against corruption and the improvement of the economic situation,” Kristo said in her letter.

In December 2022, with strong lobbying by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, the European Council granted BiH candidate status on the condition that before the opening of accession talks it implements 14 reform priorities, including the reform of the election legislation and the constitution.

Kristo said that the new partners in the government plan to implement in the next six months a limited constitutional reform and to adopt changes to the election legislation to remove discrimination against minorities and the outvoting of Croats.

Kristo said that in the first 100 days of its term, the BiH government had adopted a large number of decisions and intensified dialogue with EU officials, as well as adopted a plan for economic reforms and forwarded it to the European Commission.
