Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti told Süddeutsche Zeitung daily that Pristina’s Western partners are being naive in relation to official Belgrade.

Whenever I meet with Vucic it seems like he wants to return to the past: sometimes to 1999 when we were liberated, sometimes to before 2008 when we declared independence and sometimes to before February 27 this year when he said yes to the agreement presented by the European Union in Brussels which he never signed, Deutsche Welle’s Serbian language service quoted Kurti as telling the daily.

The Kosovo Prime Minister said he listened to international friends and partners and postponed the local elections in northern majority-Serb municipalities, moved the swearing in ceremonies of the mayors to avoid scenes of triumph.
Asked to comment the EU threat of sanctions against Kosovo and lenient attitude towards Belgrade, Kurti said that the EU and US have little expectation of Belgrade and every positive step is overrated. He added that the EU and US have high hopes for Serbia in the medium term which creates security problems for all of Serbia’s neighbors.

According to Kurti, the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue has not achieved a lot. He said that there can be no complete trust until Serbia recognizes Kosovo as an independent state and faces the crimes it committed during the war.
