Igor Kovacevic, a lawyer representing Darko Dulovic, one of the two suspects who were arrested in the Sarajevo Canton’s Interior Ministry (MoI) operation, told N1 that an investigation has been opened and that it is being actively conducted. He called the suspects family men and threatened the media and other authorities that they would be liable for defamation for calling them assassins.

“These suspects are not murderers, They are charged with a criminal offense which happens every day in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and if they were our citizens, they would not even be detained. We are talking a lot about the seriousness of the charges against them. Detention was proposed out of fear that they will flee the country as foreign nationals, that is, that they will repeat the crime,” Kovacevic said.

He added that a lot of untruths were published in the public space and that individuals will be held accountable for that.

“There was a lot of hype, there are so many untruths, non-objective and unverified information. We, as legal representatives, will take all steps, when this is all over, to hold all media outlets and authorities that have been telling falsehoods accountable for defamation. These are people who have families, and children, and everyone is upset, precisely because of the untruths that are being presented minute by minute. They are drawing targets on their foreheads. This could not be allowed in regulated systems to release this much unverified information without at least listening to the other side,” he concluded.
