A group of Lebanese pilgrims found refuge in Medjugorje, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Gathered at one of the most famous Marian shrines in the world, they pray for peace in their country and in the Middle East.

Tissiano, who moved with his wife from Lebanon to Medjugorje a few years ago, reflected on the current conflict.

"Our country is bleeding, but we find hope here in this holy place. We pray not only for our safety but for the safety of all the people in Lebanon. We believe in the power of prayer to bring peace," Tissiano told N1.

Medjugorje, a gathering place for believers worldwide, has also become a spiritual refuge for many Lebanese Christians, especially in recent years. Until recently, there was a direct flight between Beirut and Mostar which enabled an increasing number of Lebanese pilgrims.

However, current disturbances, including the temporary closure of the Beirut airport, led to the cancellation of these flights.

In September 2024, the Vatican officially approved spiritual devotion in Medjugorje. This decision allows pilgrims to continue visiting this shrine, recognizing the spiritual experiences and benefits derived from the pilgrimage, however the Vatican has not yet made a final verdict on the supernatural nature of the alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary.
