Lord David Owen marked one of the most difficult eras in the lives of people in the Balkans, along with other peace mediators, primarily Cyrus Vance and Thorvald Stoltenberg. Lord Owen, along with the former American and Norwegian foreign ministers, tried to bring peace to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Vance-Owen peace plan envisaged the division of BiH into provinces but after the initial acceptance the plan was rejected, the war continued for years, and peace was only achieved after the genocide in Srebrenica. Lord Owen has not spoken to the Balkan media for years, and in an exclusive interview for N1, he answers some of the questions related to the past, but also to current geopolitical events.
