Macron reaffirms commitment to Bosnia’s stability

During the meeting, Becirovic emphasized the necessity of preserving the stability and functionality of state institutions. He highlighted the OHR as a vital mechanism for protecting the Dayton Peace Agreement, maintaining peace, and advancing domestic reforms. Becirovic welcomed France’s proactive involvement in the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), stressing that the mandate and authority of the High Representative must remain protected, as this is essential for the country’s ongoing stability.

The discussion also focused on the urgency of Bosnia’s aspirations for NATO and European Union membership. Becirovic expressed his gratitude for France’s principled support and underscored the importance of extending the mandate of the EUFOR Althea mission, which remains a cornerstone of the country's security architecture.

President Macron reiterated France’s firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stated that the stability of the country is a critical element of regional security, and confirmed that France will continue its active engagement to foster peace and prosperity throughout the region.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the existing bilateral cooperation, noting that the friendly relations between Paris and Sarajevo provide a robust foundation for intensifying political dialogue and pursuing future joint projects of mutual interest.
