Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has accepted an invitation to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country's Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic said Thursday.
Turkovic announced on her official Facebook profile that she met in Washington with Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State of the United States, president of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and president of the “Albright Stonebridge” group.
Turkovic said the topic of the conversation was the current political situation in BiH and the region. As well as the role of the international community.
“Albright is monitoring the events very closely and she participated in the hearing in the US Congress, regarding the formation of the US President Joe Biden Administration's policy towards BiH and the Western Balkans,” the BiH Foreign Minister said.
The interlocutors exchanged views in a long conversation and expressed the expectation that the strengthened US engagement in BiH and the region will be an incentive to accelerate the reform process, especially in the direction of strengthening the state, rule of law and the fight against corruption.
Madeleine Albright accepted Minister Turkovic's invitation to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina and supported activities on BiH's Euro-Atlantic path.
