Sasa Magazinovic, a member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been appointed as the Chair of the Food, Water, Energy, and Environmental Security Committee of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) during a session held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Magazinovic addressed attendees of the session, which included committee members from four continents. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of international cooperation, responsibility, and organizing to tackle modern challenges that know no borders and require collective action.
“If we know that every 10 seconds, a child dies due to hunger and malnutrition, do we need a greater call for joint action? If we call those countries that have drinking water ‘lucky,’ and if we know that one in four people lacks access to safe water, what more must happen for the ‘powerful’ to help the ‘powerless’?” asked Magazinovic.
He also underscored that peace and stability, which are lacking for hundreds of millions of people living in war-torn or politically unstable countries, are prerequisites for solving these issues.
Magazinovic pointed out that daily politics, often marked by populism, the pursuit of popularity and votes instead of tangible work and solutions, and frequently characterized by corruption, is a major obstacle in addressing citizens’ issues worldwide.
Magazinovic is visiting Cambodia at the invitation of the Global Council for Peace and Tolerance, as a member of the leadership of this international organization, which brings together members from over 90 countries. In the coming days, he will participate in the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Peace and Tolerance, hold several bilateral meetings, and visit the Genocide Museum at the host's invitation, according to the Public Relations Sector of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
