Officers from the Federation (FBiH) entity Police Directorate’s Department for Combating Drug Abuse have conducted a significant operation under the code name "Rapid" over the past two days. The operation, part of a months-long investigation, targeted the areas of Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, and Konjic to prevent the production and distribution of illegal drugs.

Under the supervision of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office and following the orders of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, multiple searches were carried out on individuals, properties, and vehicles. These actions were taken to document the criminal offence of “Unauthorized Production and Distribution of Narcotic Drugs” as stipulated in Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As a result of these activities, four individuals were arrested: A.V. (1991) from Sarajevo, M.M. (1996) from Sarajevo, O.C. (1992) from Konjic, and Z.N. (1984) from East Sarajevo. The arrests were made based on reasonable suspicion of their involvement in the specified criminal offence. During the operation, authorities seized approximately seventy-four kilograms of amphetamine, twelve litres of amphetamine oil, one kilogram of amphetamine crystal-ice, nine PVC packages containing hundreds of ecstasy tablets, firearms, ammunition, multiple mobile phones and SIM cards, precision scales, packaging materials, and other equipment related to drug production and distribution. In previous operations, collaborators of the organized criminal group had been found with eight kilograms of amphetamine.

The suspects are believed to have been involved in the unauthorized production and procurement of amphetamine in the Sarajevo Canton, Central Bosnia Canton, Zenica-Doboj Canton, and Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. They reportedly used a rented apartment for the production, preparation, and packaging of the drug for further distribution. During the searches, additional items connected to the criminal activity were discovered.

The FBiH Police Directorate acknowledged the significant contributions from the officers of the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the police officers from the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Central Bosnia Canton, Zenica-Doboj Canton, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity in documenting the execution of the criminal offence “Unauthorized Production and Distribution of Narcotic Drugs” as outlined in Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The arrested individuals have been processed and handed over to the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, which will decide on their further legal status.
