Bosnia's state prosecution has launched a broad investigation into the smuggling of weapons and military equipment from Bosnia and Herzegovina to France, intended for sale on illegal markets and criminal activities.

Within this operation, competent authorities apprehended one suspect, with initials C.M., and seized 10 rifles and ammunition boxes in the Orasje area, northern Bosnia.

The apprehended person is suspected of being a part of an organised group that was searching for illegal automatic firearms, which was then smuggled in vehicles from Bosnia and Herzegovina to France, and handed over to the persons who were in contact with the suspect for further placing on illegal markets and gaining illegal profit.

Bosnian authorities carried out the operation in partnership with the institutions of the Republic of France.

The prosecution requested from the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to put the suspect in custody.
