A man identified as I.A., who was detained in Zenica on June 15 this year, has died in custody. According to the Zenica-Doboj Canton's Interior Ministry, an autopsy conducted two days later at the Cantonal Hospital morgue determined that he died due to violent causes.

“On June 17, 2024, Dr Tuco Vedo conducted an external examination and autopsy of the body of I.A. at the Cantonal Hospital Zenica, who passed away around 9:15 PM on June 15, 2024, in the detention room of Police Administration I. Following the examination and autopsy, Dr. Tuco determined the cause of death to be violent. This finding prompted police officers to gather additional information about the circumstances under which I.A. sustained the injuries identified during the examination and autopsy,” Zenica-Doboj Canton Interior Ministry said.

They highlighted that based on operational findings by officers of the Criminal Police Sector arrested on June 18, S.H., born in 1979 in Zenica. The police added that there are reasonable grounds to suspect his involvement in this incident.

After completing the documentation, S.H. was handed over on June 18, 2024, along with a report of the alleged criminal offence, to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office for further action, due to suspicions of committing the crime of ‘Grievous Bodily Harm Resulting in Death.’
