The mayors Sarajevo and Banja Luka, Benjamina Karic and Drasko Stanivukovic, discussed the situation in BiH with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Thursday.
The two mayors are participating in the fourth edition of the Paris Peace Forum.
Karic emphasized the importance of supporting Bosnia on its road toward the European Union and in the preservation of its territorial integrity.
Stanivukovic said that he talked to Macron “about the current situation in Republika Srpska, with an emphasis on the European path that new generations of politicians can and should follow.”
“(France’s) support for in the fight against crime and corruption is unquestionable, but also for our path towards greater transparency of institutions, as one of the key European values,” Stanivukovic said.
He said that cooperation between Banja Luka and several French cities has also been agreed upon.
“We have agreed to cooperate with four cities in France through direct support for technological projects, but also projects in the field of ecology. Banja Luka will be able to count on French funds for the realization of projects in these areas. We are proud of everything we did today, because today in the heart of France, people are talking about the city on the Vrbas river,” Stanivukovic said, referring to his city.
